(Alliance News) - Airbus SE on Wednesday reaffirmed full-year guidance after reporting higher first quarter sales and earnings.

The Leiden, Netherlands-based aerospace company said net income increased 33% to EUR793 million in the first quarter from EUR595 million a year prior.

Adjusted earnings before interest and tax rose 8.1% to EUR624 million from EUR577 million.

Revenue grew 5.5% to EUR13.54 billion from EUR12.83 billion and Airbus said 136 commercial aircraft were delivered in the quarter, down from 142 a year ago.

"Results demonstrate the progress we are making on our priorities across the business. We are ramping up production in line with our plan but the delivery profile will be backloaded, reflecting the specific supply chain challenges we are facing this year," said Guillaume Faury, Airbus chief executive officer.

Revenue generated by Airbus commercial aircraft activities increased 4% to EUR9.5 billion. Airbus Helicopters revenue increased by 10% to EUR1.6 billion. Revenue at Airbus Defence and Space increased 11% year-on-year to EUR2.7 billion.

Gross commercial aircraft orders totalled 280 in the quarter compared to 170 a year ago, with net orders of 204 aircraft after cancellations compared to 170 aircraft before.

Airbus said free cash outflow was EUR310 million in the quarter compared to EUR1.79 billion a year.

Airbus maintained guidance and in 2025, aims to achieve around 820 commercial aircraft deliveries; adjusted Ebit of around EUR7.0 billion; and free cash flow before customer financing of around EUR4.5 billion.

CEO Faury said the guidance excludes tariffs which are adding "complexity and remain uncertain in terms of implementation, scope and duration".

"We are closely monitoring and assessing the situation, but it is too early to quantify the impact today," the CEO added.

Shares in Airbus closed up 2.2% at EUR147.14 each in Paris on Wednesday.
